About this app
Liseur is an open-source EPUB books reader for Android, and a client for calibre-web and Komga: a modern reader that is equally at home with the files on your phone and with your own book server.
👀 Reading * Paginated EPUB rendering through the Readium toolkit, full screen by default * Tap right to go forward, left to go back, the middle for the controls; volume keys work too * A whole page always fits the screen, with no stray scrolling to catch the last line * Four reading themes (Light, Sepia, Dark, Black), independent of the app's own theme * Four bundled open fonts or the publisher's own, plus size, line spacing, margins and brightness * Time left in the chapter, time left in the book, page or percentage, and a scrubber with chapter ticks
🪧 Marking up and looking up * Highlights in four colours, notes, and bookmarks with a corner ribbon * A notebook of everything you marked in a book, exportable as Markdown * Search the whole book, with snippets and jump-to highlighting * Definitions for any selected word, or a hand-off to an offline dictionary app. Online lookups are off until you turn them on, and you choose which Wiktionary edition or mirror answers them
📚 Your library * Index folders of EPUBs, covers and all * Books you are using sort to the front; finished ones get a tick * Pull to refresh picks up whatever changed behind the app's back
🌐 Your own server * calibre-web: one screen sets it up with URL, username and password, and Liseur works out the catalog, download rights and sync token * Komga: paste the server address and an API key * Your server's books merge into the same library with a cloud badge; tap one to download and open it * Reading positions sync both ways, through calibre-web's Kobo protocol or Komga's read-progress API * Remove the copy on the device, or delete the book from the server
🎉 Free software * No trackers, no analytics, no proprietary dependencies. The only network traffic is to the book server you configured and, if you switch online definitions on, to the dictionary site you chose.

What's new
- Liseur v0.16.0 introduces page curling under your finger as you turn pages, expanded controls for highlights and notes, faster library synchronization, and improved connectivity for local home servers and custom certificates.
- ●Reading ・Dragging sideways now bends the page under your finger, turning or returning the page when released (#183).
- ・Tapping a highlight opens options to recolor, edit, share, or delete it, and tapping a note opens a sheet displaying its text and details (#185, #186).
- ・You can now choose which highlight colors appear in the selection bar (#175).
- ・Reading appearance settings are now structured like the reader's "Aa" sheet, grouping less common options into an Advanced section (#174).
- ●Library ・Books imported from a server now sort by when they were actually read rather than when they were downloaded (#182). ・Initial library setup against servers now names catalog books in batch requests, completing sync significantly faster (#182).
- ●Fixes ・The server selection sheet now opens at full height so all supported server options are immediately visible without scrolling (#199). ・Connecting to servers on home networks now prompts for required local network permissions on Android 17 rather than timing out (#198). ・Liseur now trusts user-installed root CAs, allowing HTTPS connections to self-hosted servers with local CAs (#197). ・Synced positions now accurately restore to the correct chapter across different client devices and book editions (#192). ・Fixed selection handle placement when long-pressing the first word of a paragraph (#190). ・Note timestamps now only update when text is edited, and blank notes are ignored during sync (#187, #188).
- ●Under the hood ・Removed unreferenced database queries, obsolete string resources, and abandoned UI code (#181).
