• Add-ons
• Kwick Player can now sign in to accounts you already have elsewhere. Subtitles come from two places instead of none, what you watch keeps your Trakt or Simkl profile up to date by itself, and your watchlists show up on Home.
• You always sign in to your own account. There is no shared Kwick account behind any of these — your history and your allowances stay yours.
• New
• Add-ons, a new section in Settings › Add-ons, with a page for each service: OpenSubtitles, Trakt, Simkl and TMDB.
• Subtitles inside the player. During a film or episode, open Subtitles and the first two rows are Search OpenSubtitles and Search Subdl. Both already know what you are watching, so they find the right subtitles without you typing anything, put your preferred language first, and mark the ones already on your device. Turn one on and it comes back on by itself next time you play that film, without downloading it again.
• Subdl needs no sign-in at all. It has no member accounts, so there is nothing to set up and nothing in Settings — it simply works.
• Trakt and Simkl. Sign in once and the app tells your profile when you start something, pause it and finish it. Your watchlist becomes a row on Home, things you have seen wear a tick, and you can rate from inside the app.
• TMDB. Your watchlist and favourites as their own rows on Home, and a heart you can set from the app.
• Keep up to date. Each of the three can sync at startup, every 1, 2, 3, 6 or 12 hours, or right now — and tells you what it found and when it last ran.
• Signing in sends you back to the app. Those services will not let any app take your password, so you sign in on their page. On a phone the app opens it with the code already filled in; on a television it shows the code and a QR square to scan with your phone. When you finish, the page hands you back to Kwick Player.
• Put the Home rows in the order you want. Settings › Home Screen › Row order. Hold and drag on a phone, Left and Right on a television. Rows you have switched off keep their place. Saved per profile and carried to your other devices.
• Choose how long the player controls stay up. Settings › Playback › Hide the controls after — 5, 10 or 15 seconds. They used to go after four, everywhere, with no way to change it.
• Fixed
• The subtitle list was absurdly long. A film carrying twenty-odd languages listed every one of them off the bottom of the screen. Now you see your own language and whatever is playing, then one All languages row that opens the rest.
• Signing out said KwickSync could not be reached when it could. When the server has everything you now get no message at all, and when something really was kept on the device the message gives the actual reason.
• The "Sync this device" switch did nothing until you restarted. Settings changed in one part of the app now reach the rest of it straight away, including settings arriving from your other devices.
• The gaps between Home rows were uneven. They are all the same now.
• The audio menu now shows which track is playing, and a film that failed to open one way is opened the working way next time.
• Also: the TV Guide's current-time line is lit and carries an arrow, the Settings section you have open is highlighted, and searching with a remote no longer closes the keyboard.
• Installing keeps all your profiles, favourites, and history.
