Description
Neo Backup (formerly OAndBackupX) is a fork of the well-known OAndBackup, aimed at bringing OAndBackup to the 202X era and is part of the Neo Applications suite. The app has already been fully rewritten; upcoming work will focus on making it more robust and adding long-planned features to simplify the backup/restore workflow on any device. Therefore, all types of contributions are always welcome. Features - Requires root and allows you to back up individual apps and their data. - Supports both backup and restore of individual apps one at a time, as well as batch backup and restore of multiple apps. - Restoring system apps should be possible without requiring a reboot afterwards. - Backups can be scheduled with no limit on the number of schedules, and you can create custom lists from the installed apps. - For more information, please visit the project's FAQ: https://github.com/NeoApplications/Neo-Backup/blob/main/FAQ.md Recommendation Combining Neo Backup with your favorite sync solution (e.g., Syncthing, Nextcloud) to keep an encrypted copy of your apps and their data on your server or a "stable" device can provide many benefits and save you a lot of work when changing ROMs or just cleaning your mobile device. Encryption If enabled, the backup data will be encrypted with AES-256 using a password you set in the settings, which you will need to provide when restoring the data. This allows you to store your backups more securely, reducing concerns about unauthorized access. Compatibility Version 5.0.0 uses new encryption and new databases, fixes most bugs reported in 4.0.0, and boosts performance to levels near 3.2.0. However, it is incompatible with older versions. Version 4.0.0 represents a complete overhaul of the app structure and thus breaks compatibility with previous versions. Up to version 0.9.3, no structural changes were made to how the app handles backup/restore. You can use that version to restore old backups, then upgrade to the newest version and renew your backups so they remain compatible, as long as the app’s logic does not change radically.
