About this app
ScooterHacking Utility v4.2 is now available!
ScooterHacking Utility v4.2 is now rolling out across all platforms.
This release introduces the new Workspace experience, brings back automation, expands support for newer vehicles and security features, and includes more than 200 fixes and refinements.
What's new
v4.2.0Aug 8, 2026
- Changelog
- A completely redesigned Workspace
- The user interface has been rethought to work better across phones, tablets, and computers, while bringing a fresh look to the familiar ScooterHacking Utility experience.
- When you connect to a vehicle, the app will now automatically open the new responsive Workspace layout. Prefer the classic layout? You can switch back at any time from the settings.
- Settings, now in one place
- All app settings have been moved to a dedicated screen, accessible from the top-right corner of both the scan screen and the scooter Workspace.
- External firmware ZIP loading has also been moved there, making this advanced feature less prominent and reducing accidental misuse.
- Automation is back and better than before
- We heard you: automation has returned!
- You can now create workflows that run automatically when a scooter connects, or launch them manually using an easily accessible button in the Workspace.
- You can choose which actions to run, configure a delay before the workflow starts, and combine automation with scooter auto-connect. Every control from the Tools tab can be added to a workflow, including SHFW profile switching on supported scooters.
- Vehicle security settings for G3, F3, ZT3, and GT3
- Full support has been added for vehicle security settings on the G3, F3, ZT3, and GT3, including code lock, pattern lock, and AirLock.
- AirLock pairing is available exclusively in the native Android and iOS apps. All other security settings are available on every platform.
- XTEA support and Ninebot ZIP revision 3.2
- Support has been added for the XTEA cipher used by newer x3 MCU and VCU firmware versions.
- This release also introduces revision 3.2 of the Ninebot ZIP firmware package format, which is required whenever XTEA is selected as the encryption algorithm for a vehicle. Documentation for this revision will be published soon.
- Once the documentation is available, we strongly recommend that modders migrate to revision 3.2 and retire revision 3.1, as encryption is now handled entirely by the app.
- E3 and E3 Pro flashing support
- Support has been added for the E3 and E3 Pro-specific flashing protocol, allowing the BLE device to be flashed.
- Unlocking E3 firmware over Bluetooth is not yet supported.
- Other improvements and fixes
- Improved the handling of required power states when connecting to scooters such as the E3, E3 Pro, F2, and G2. These vehicles can connect while in standby but may not return any data in that state.
- Removed the requirement for the client clock to be tightly synchronized through NTP.
- Fixed the scooter name-change function on the E3 and E3 Pro. Users who changed their scooter name during the brief period when this issue was present and can no longer connect should contact a staff member for assistance.
- Fixed a regression that caused newly issued configuration data to take effect only after restarting the app twice.
- Fixed an issue where SHFW transition firmware could be misidentified on Xiaomi scooters, causing user settings to be wiped during an upgrade.
- Fixed more than 200 additional bugs and inconsistencies through expanded unit testing and thorough audits since the previous build.
- Many smaller or unusual behaviors that would be difficult to list individually should now be gone. How many other improvements can you spot?
- Update now and enjoy ScooterHacking Utility v4.2!
