📞 CallVault — Call Recording, Transcription & Summaries

CallVault is an Android call recorder designed to capture conversations, organize recordings, and turn spoken discussions into searchable text and summaries. It processes transcription and summarization on your device, helping you review important details without routinely uploading recordings to an online service.

The app is free to use, contains no ads, and does not require an account.

🎙️ Call Recording

• Record both sides of regular phone calls. • Choose automatic recording or a prompt before recording. • Select which contacts or calls should be recorded. • Pause, resume, or stop recordings while a call is in progress. • Add markers to important moments and merge recordings from the same conversation.

💬 App Call Recording CallVault also offers experimental recording for calls made through supported apps, including WhatsApp, Signal, and Telegram. This feature is optional and depends on the device's audio system and the calling app. Results may vary between phone models and Android versions.

⚙️ Recording Without Root CallVault offers two setup methods:

– Built-in ADB: Pair once through Android Wireless Debugging; no separate Shizuku installation or computer is required. – Shizuku: Use an existing Shizuku setup to provide the required privileges.

Follow the setup instructions carefully. Developer options and debugging configuration must remain appropriate for the selected mode, or recording may stop working.

🤖 On-Device Transcription and Summaries

• Convert recordings into text using on-device speech recognition. • Generate summaries highlighting the purpose of a conversation, key points, decisions, and action items. • Identify speakers in supported phone-call recordings. • Search transcripts and summaries for words and information. • Add notes, tags, and stars to organize important conversations.

▶️ Playback, Export and Backup

• Play recordings with a waveform and seek to specific moments. • Save recordings in a chosen folder. • Use Opus audio in OGG format or select AAC/M4A with configurable quality. • Export transcripts as text, Markdown, SRT, VTT, or JSON. • Optionally back up recordings to Google Drive. • Configure storage limits and automatic cleanup, with starred recordings protected from automatic deletion.

🔐 Privacy and Requirements CallVault states that recordings and on-device transcription and summaries remain on your phone unless you enable optional cloud backup or request an online model download. The app has no account requirement or analytics telemetry, according to its documentation.

📲 Requirements: Android 11 or later on a 64-bit ARM device (arm64-v8a). Initial setup requires the selected debugging or Shizuku permissions. Transcription and summarization models require additional storage and memory.

📜 License CallVault is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPL-3.0), with additional terms under Section 7. The license permits use, modification, and redistribution subject to its conditions, including the project's applicable attribution and trademark requirements.

⚠️ Important Disclaimer Call recording laws vary by country and region; consent from all participants may be required. You are responsible for complying with local laws. Recording reliability depends on your device and software version. App-call recording is experimental, and carrier Wi-Fi calling (VoWiFi/VoLTE) is not covered.
