Description: KittyTune is a music player built entirely from scratch using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. It serves as a unified platform for streaming from SoundCloud (falling back to YouTube for geo-locked tracks), playing local files, and providing complete control over audio effects. Unlike a mere wrapper, it's a fully native client with a custom audio engine, offline database, and features tailored to personal needs. Features 1. Hybrid streaming engine - SoundCloud first: Uses the internal API v2 to stream tracks, fetch playlists, and handle user profiles. - YouTube fallback: If a track is restricted on SoundCloud (Go+ or geo-blocked), the app automatically searches for and streams it from YouTube using NewPipe or Invidious extractors. - Local playback: Scans the device for MP3/FLAC files and integrates them directly into the library. 2. Audio processing engine Custom AudioProcessor classes extend ExoPlayer for real-time control: - Nightcore mode: Adjusts playback speed (0.5x to 2.0x) without pitch alteration, or enables pitch-shifting for the classic nightcore effect. - Advanced effects: Includes 8D audio oscillators, native bass boost, low-pass (muffled) filtering, and reverb. - Rain mode: A dedicated secondary player loops high-quality rain samples over the music with adjustable volume. 3. Lyrics explorer - Synced lyrics: Automatically fetches time-synced lyrics via the LrcLib API. - Manual search: If auto-matching fails, a manual tool lets users find the correct data or read embedded USLT tags from local files. 4. RPG system & collection - Achievements: Earn XP to unlock badges like "Vampire" (8 hours of nighttime listening), "Obsessed" (looping the same track 200 times), or "Marathon." - Privacy: "Ghost Mode" enables high-quality streaming without requiring an account. - Backup/restore: Export the entire library, history, and achievements to a .backup file. How it works internally Session management SoundCloud's API poses certain challenges. A SessionManager runs a headless WebView in the background to handle "ghost" sessions. It intercepts cookies and the client ID, keeping the app authenticated automatically without hardcoded keys. Offline mode The DownloadManager handles caching. When a track is downloaded, it pulls the audio and metadata, tags the MP3 properly using mp3agic, and stores the file for offline use. License This project is open source.
