What's new
- Every store, even offline.
- Vyxel Apps now works with no connection at all. An offline catalogue keeps every source's app list on your phone, two new sources arrive — the developers' own F-Droid repositories and TapTap for games — and app pages that used to say "No APK" for apps you already have now find the file. Plus a new icon, a Download APK button, and the launch crash fixed for real this time.
- ●Offline catalogue ・Browse and search with no connection. Every source's app list is kept in a database on your phone. Offline, the home rails fill from it and search answers from it. Online, search answers from it first, before any network call returns. ・Lightweight. A saved row holds what a card and a search need: name, summary, icon, package, version, file link. Long descriptions, screenshots, changelogs and release lists still load when you open an app. ・Daily background sync, only while the battery and storage aren't low. Incremental. Sources synced in the last 20 hours are skipped, rows are compared by hash so an unchanged catalogue writes almost nothing, and every rail the home screen loads is saved at no extra request. ・Manual sync from Settings → Offline catalogue, with progress and a per-source report. ・Network rules. Scheduled syncs wait for Wi-Fi by default. A manual sync always runs. ・Storage limit of 25 / 50 / 100 / 250 MB. Past it, the apps that have gone longest without an update go first, and the file is compacted so the space really comes back. ・GitHub rate-limit protection. Before touching the GitHub API a sync checks the remaining quota (that check is free) and always leaves 30 requests untouched, so a background sync never leaves you rate-limited.
- ●Developer repos ・The F-Droid repositories Droid-ify and Neo Store switch on by default, merged into one source: Bitwarden, NewPipe, microG, Guardian Project, Molly, Session, Threema, SchildiChat, Fedilab, KDE, CalyxOS, Collabora Office, RetroArch and Cake Wallet. Builds are signed by the projects themselves and often days ahead of f-droid.org.
- ●TapTap ・Game charts and search, with full write-ups and screenshots. TapTap only hands out files through its own app, so a game found there installs from Google Play (signed in) or Aptoide when either has a verified build of the same package. When neither does, or both are switched off in Sources, the page says which and what would fix it. It never offers something unverified.
- ・New sources start switched on, even if you've changed your enabled sources before.
- ●App pages ・Download APK, under the install button. Saves the file to Downloads/Vyxel, with a notification that opens the installer. Split installs are saved as the whole set. ・Installed apps have a real page. Apps that didn't come from Vyxel opened a placeholder with nothing behind it. They now find the same package in a real store, trying the store that installed it first, because an update must be signed with the same key. ・Update rows open to the update. Tracked-release updates and scan results read "No APK" next to a row offering an update. They now carry their file, and the button says Update, not Open. ・Tracked apps open their page. ・The right APK from multi-file releases. Debug, unsigned, uncompressed, unminified and legacy variants now come last. LastWave was offering its 87 MB unminified build instead of the 22 MB release. ・Play descriptions no longer show literal <br> tags.
- ●New icon ・A new mark in blue, mint and ice. The adaptive icon stays inside the safe zone so no launcher mask clips it, there's a monochrome layer for Android 13 themed icons, and update notifications finally carry the Vyxel mark instead of Android's placeholder.
- ●Fixed ・The launch crash, properly. The 1.1.1 notes said it was fixed. It wasn't. The 1.1.1 change only paused Analytics, which still connected to Google Play services and asked for its measurement service. Where Play services can't match the app to its user (typically a Xiaomi Dual Apps or Second Space copy), that request throws on the main thread. Firebase Analytics is now removed entirely, and nothing else used it. ・App page crash on some F-Droid apps. Apps that publish each CPU architecture as its own build under one version name crashed the page as the version list scrolled into view.
