About this app

RadioUpnp lets you enjoy web radios with uninterrupted playback, even when the app is in the background or the screen is off.

Minimalist and fully customizable, you can easily build your own radio playlist: - Use the built-in Search screen to find and add radios. - Use the RadioGarden app and share results directly to RadioUpnp. - Still not finding your favorite radio? Add it manually via the Add/Edit screen.

RadioUpnp is one of the rare apps that streams radios to UPnP/DLNA speakers while showing metadata (like track title or artist)* — ideal for smart homes or audiophile setups.

It's completely free and ad-free. You can support development via the Donate menu. Thank you!

📌 Troubleshooting Tips:

- Some phone brands (e.g. Samsung, OnePlus) may apply battery optimization that disrupts streaming. Disable optimization in battery settings for RadioUpnp. - Streaming quality and compatibility depend on your UPnP/DLNA device (supported CODECs, etc.). - If you use ad blockers or firewall apps, UPnP streaming may be blocked. - Need help? Use the in-app Report function to contact the developer.

*When the Icy metadata standard is supported.

ℹ️ Note

This version does not contain Google proprietary artifacts (e.g., Google Cast) to ensure a fully open-source flavor.

What's new

v3.02.026Oct 3, 2026
  • Bug fixes
  • Donations: slow payments completed after leaving the donation screen are now finalized at the next app start. Previously they could be refunded by Google after 3 days. - JSON import: imported radios now always get fresh IDs, so they no longer collide with existing radios. - Notifications: the playback and alarm services no longer cancel each other's notifications when they restart. - Media session: tapping a media controller such as Android Auto could fail to open the app. Fixed. - Play button: a touch on the play button during startup could prevent the player controls from connecting to the playback service. Fixed. - Radio search: a corrupted request URL caused a failed request before each search. A failing server is now also skipped immediately. - Android Auto: the radio list now follows reordering made in the app. - UPnP: device descriptions are now decoded with the charset declared by the renderer. - Radio URL test: now uses the same User-Agent as playback, so it no longer fails on servers that playback accepts. - IPv6: the stream URL sent to renderers is now valid when only an IPv6 address is available.
  • Improvements
  • UPnP device icons are downloaded once instead of twice, and only when they can replace the current icon, making discovery faster. - The play button long press now follows the system long-press delay from accessibility settings. - Smaller app: removed the Gson, Apache Commons IO and GridLayout libraries.
  • Upgrading from a version older than 2.72.03
  • The automatic migration of radio lists saved before 2.72.03 has been removed. If you upgrade from such a version, export your radios to JSON before upgrading, then import the file after upgrading.
