Ring

Ring helps you choose an audio file and use it as your phone’s call ringtone or system message notification sound. You can listen to your current sounds and preview a new selection before applying it.

## What’s included

- **Simpler setup:** Follow two clear steps: choose an audio file, then choose where to use it.

- **Audio selection:** Browse audio files available on your device.

- **Preview controls:** Play, pause, and seek through a selected sound before applying it.

- **Call ringtone setting:** Apply the selected audio as the system’s default call ringtone.

- **Message sound setting:** Apply the selected audio as the system notification sound, with additional best-effort support for certain manufacturer SMS settings.

- **Current sound previews:** View and listen to the current call ringtone and notification sound.

- **Light and dark appearance:** Switch themes using the control in the top bar; your preference is saved.

- **Permission guidance:** If Android requires permission to modify system settings, Ring directs you to Settings and resumes the pending action after permission is granted.

## Important notes

- Ring needs Android’s **Modify system settings** permission to change system sounds.

- The message sound option changes the **system notification sound**. Messaging apps may use their own notification settings, so their sound may need to be changed separately.

- Manufacturer-specific SMS settings are best-effort and can differ between Android devices.
