TG WS Proxy

A local proxy for Telegram, running directly on your Android device.

No registration. No separate server. No configuration fiddling. Flip the switch, tap Telegram, and go.

What it is

An Android app that starts a local MTProto WebSocket proxy directly on your phone. The proxy runs on your device, not on a remote VPS.

The app handles everything:

- Starts the proxy on port 1443 - Generates the secret - Produces a ready-to-use link for Telegram - Shows a QR code - Can start after a phone reboot - Warns you when Android is throttling it with battery optimisation

Setup

1. Download the APK. 2. Install on Android 7.0+. Allow installation from unknown sources if prompted. 3. Open TG WS Proxy. The main screen shows a toggle. No manual configuration is needed. 4. Flip the toggle. The app starts a local proxy on port 1443 and generates the secret automatically. 5. Tap the connect button. The app hands over a tg://proxy?... link that Telegram picks up as a regular proxy. 6. If Android asks to disable battery optimisation, do so. Otherwise the background service may drop without warning and the proxy will appear broken. 7. Telegram connects to the proxy and works as usual.

Notes

- If the app asks to disable battery optimisation, do so immediately. - If Android kills background services, the proxy will drop. - After a reboot, start the proxy again with the toggle.

Under the hood

The app runs a local HTTP server on port 8080 and serves the interface through an embedded WebView. A background service listens on 0.0.0.0:1443, and the screen controls it through a local API.

The UI and the proxy are separate, so the service does not die from a stray tap on the screen.

Limitations

- Android may kill the background service. - Stability varies on low-end or heavily customised ROMs. - A local proxy is not always better than a good external proxy. - Without disabling battery optimisation, performance can be noticeably worse.
