Use Microsoft Authenticator to sign in easily and securely.

Microsoft Authenticator makes two-factor authentication simple, convenient, and secure. You can now sign in to your Microsoft account without a password using your phone. Just enter your username and then accept the notification sent to you on your phone. The second step of two-factor authentication can be a fingerprint, a photo of your face, or a PIN. When you sign in this way, you have access to all of your Microsoft products and services, including Outlook, OneDrive, and Office.

Microsoft Authenticator also supports multi-factor authentication (MFA) even if you still use a password, providing another layer of protection after you enter your password. When you sign in using two-factor authentication, you enter a password and then have to verify your identity in some other way. To do this, you must either accept the notification sent to Microsoft Authenticator or enter a one-time password generated by the application. For security reasons, these passwords (OTP codes) expire after 30 seconds. They do not require a network connection and will not drain your device's battery. You can add many accounts to the application, including those not related to Microsoft products, such as LinkedIn, GitHub, Amazon, Dropbox, Google, Facebook, and others. Since the application supports temporary one-time passwords (TOTP) that comply with industry standards, all these records will be securely protected. It is enough to enable two-factor authentication for them: when logging in, you will specify your username and password as usual, and then enter the one-time password (OTP) provided by the Microsoft Authenticator application.

Some organizations or educational institutions may require you to install Microsoft Authenticator to access certain files, email, or applications. To do this, you need to register your device with the organization through this program, and then add your work or school account. Microsoft Authenticator also supports certificate-based authentication by issuing a certificate on your device. This lets your organization know that the login request comes from a trusted device, and lets you easily and securely access additional Microsoft applications and services without having to log in to them separately. Because Microsoft Authenticator supports single sign-on, you only need to confirm your identity once, and then you don't need to log in to other Microsoft applications on your device again.
