👻 Ghostly VPN — Modern Xray-Based VPN Client

Ghostly VPN is an open-source, multi-platform VPN and proxy client built around the Xray core. Designed for Android and Windows, with macOS, iOS, and Linux support planned, it combines flexible subscription management, smart routing, automatic server selection, real-time connection monitoring, and a clean modern interface.

Ghostly VPN is a client rather than a VPN service. It can work with compatible VLESS, VMess, Trojan, Shadowsocks, and Hysteria2 subscriptions or individual configurations, allowing users to connect their own servers or compatible subscription providers.

🌐 Supported Protocols

Ghostly VPN supports a wide range of Xray-compatible configurations, including:

Configurations can be imported from subscription URLs, Base64 data, Xray JSON files, QR codes, or supported deep links such as "ghostly://" and "happ://add/".

⚡ Smart Server Selection

Ghostly VPN includes several mechanisms designed to reduce unnecessary connection delays:

• Fast TCP latency checks for available servers • Real connection latency testing through the Xray core • Automatic server switching when a connection becomes unavailable • Connection monitoring that periodically verifies whether traffic is actually passing through the tunnel • Automatic reconnection after network interruptions

On supported desktop configurations, the client can also reuse a single Xray process when testing multiple servers.

🧭 Smart Routing

Traffic can be handled according to configurable routing rules. Users can choose which destinations should go directly through the normal connection, which should use the VPN tunnel, and which should be blocked.

The application also includes predefined routing behavior for selected domains, ad-blocking support, and configurable DNS resolvers.

📱 Android Features

On Android, Ghostly VPN uses the system VpnService interface and can provide device-level tunneling through Xray.

🔐 Open Source & Transparent Architecture

Ghostly VPN is released under the GPL-3.0 license. Its Android implementation connects the Android VpnService TUN interface directly to the Xray networking core, while the desktop version uses Xray alongside system proxy or TUN functionality.

The project also verifies the Xray core used during the build process through SHA-256 checksums. Xray itself is distributed under its own MPL-2.0 license, while the AndroidLibXrayLite component uses LGPL-3.0.

⚠️ Important: Ghostly VPN does not provide VPN servers by itself. Connection availability and performance depend on the configured servers, subscriptions, network conditions, and routing configuration.
