📶 Hotspot Bypass VPN — Share Your Mobile Connection

Hotspot Bypass VPN is an Android and Windows networking tool designed to share a phone's internet connection with other devices through a local proxy and VPN tunnel. It uses Wi-Fi Direct, SOCKS5 and tun2socks to connect devices without requiring root access on the Android host.

📱 Android Host Mode

Turn your Android device into a connection-sharing host.

• Create a local Wi-Fi Direct connection • Start a SOCKS5 proxy for connected devices • Share the phone's internet connection with Android and Windows clients • Support multiple connected clients • Keep the service running in the background • Configure the Wi-Fi band, including 5 GHz where supported

The app uses a foreground service and connection-recovery mechanisms to help maintain sharing while the phone screen is off.

🔗 Android Client Mode

Connect a second Android device to the host phone and route its system traffic through the host's proxy.

• Enter the host IP address and proxy port • Start an Android VPN connection • Route traffic through tun2socks • Use compatible TCP and UDP applications • Monitor connection status and troubleshoot interruptions

💻 Windows Client

The companion Windows client provides a global TUN-based VPN mode for routing traffic through the Android host.

🔌 Sharing with Other Devices

The Windows client can also share its VPN connection with consoles and other devices through a supported Ethernet adapter or Windows Mobile Hotspot, subject to Windows networking and NAT limitations.

🎮 Gaming & Network Compatibility

The project includes MTU tuning and packet-handling options intended to help with latency-sensitive applications and games. Actual performance depends on the host phone, Wi-Fi conditions, mobile network and the behavior of each application.

📱 Requirements

The Android app and Windows companion have separate setup requirements. Android users must grant the required VPN and background-operation permissions. The Windows client may require administrator privileges to configure a TUN interface and network sharing.

📜 License

Hotspot Bypass VPN is released under the MIT License. Bundled components such as Wintun and tun2socks retain their respective licenses and attribution requirements.

This application shares an existing internet connection; it does not provide mobile data, a VPN subscription or a remote VPN server. Carrier tethering policies and plan restrictions may still apply. Compatibility and performance are not guaranteed on every device, carrier or network.
