About this app
Liseur is an open-source EPUB books reader for Android, and a client for calibre-web and Komga: a modern reader that is equally at home with the files on your phone and with your own book server.
👀 Reading * Paginated EPUB rendering through the Readium toolkit, full screen by default * Tap right to go forward, left to go back, the middle for the controls; volume keys work too * A whole page always fits the screen, with no stray scrolling to catch the last line * Four reading themes (Light, Sepia, Dark, Black), independent of the app's own theme * Four bundled open fonts or the publisher's own, plus size, line spacing, margins and brightness * Time left in the chapter, time left in the book, page or percentage, and a scrubber with chapter ticks
🪧 Marking up and looking up * Highlights in four colours, notes, and bookmarks with a corner ribbon * A notebook of everything you marked in a book, exportable as Markdown * Search the whole book, with snippets and jump-to highlighting * Definitions for any selected word, or a hand-off to an offline dictionary app. Online lookups are off until you turn them on, and you choose which Wiktionary edition or mirror answers them
📚 Your library * Index folders of EPUBs, covers and all * Books you are using sort to the front; finished ones get a tick * Pull to refresh picks up whatever changed behind the app's back
🌐 Your own server * calibre-web: one screen sets it up with URL, username and password, and Liseur works out the catalog, download rights and sync token * Komga: paste the server address and an API key * Your server's books merge into the same library with a cloud badge; tap one to download and open it * Reading positions sync both ways, through calibre-web's Kobo protocol or Komga's read-progress API * Remove the copy on the device, or delete the book from the server
🎉 Free software * No trackers, no analytics, no proprietary dependencies. The only network traffic is to the book server you configured and, if you switch online definitions on, to the dictionary site you chose.

What's new
- This release introduces reading position and session synchronization through liseur-sync servers, automatic position updates to your furthest page, merged multi-device reading statistics, and streamlined settings.
- ●Reading ・Word definitions can now open directly in an external dictionary app instead of the built-in definition card. ・The reader footer now permanently displays reading percentage on the left and page numbers on the right, with a tappable middle slot for chapter titles or remaining reading time. ・Reading time estimates are now stabilized across font size changes, layout updates, and fast page turns. ・Coming back to a book automatically takes you to the furthest page read across your devices, with an indicator letting you know your position synced and a option to jump back.
- ●Library ・Settings have been reorganized to put remote server connections at the top, showing active connection status and logged-in account details for each server. ・The reading statistics dashboard now merges server history, session totals, and streaks across all your synchronized devices into a single overview. ・Exporting and restoring highlights now previews mark counts and matched books before applying changes.
- ●calibre-web ・Added support for liseur-sync servers to keep positions, finished reading sessions, and reading stats synchronized alongside your existing calibre-web or Komga libraries. ・Books are automatically matched across devices using file hashes, EPUB metadata, and KOReader fingerprints, prompting for confirmation only when matching on title and author alone.
- ●Fixes ・Fixed a crash when opening the reading statistics screen while connected to a sync server. ・Prevented app pauses, layout shifts, and setting tweaks from creating false page turns and sync conflicts. ・Fixed foreground sync triggers so stale sync peers are properly refreshed when opening the app.
- ●Under the hood ・Reading position updates and background sync queueing are now decoupled from the active reader interface, ensuring progress writes complete cleanly when closing books quickly.
