Captive Portal Login is a system app that comes pre-installed on the vast majority of Android devices. Its purpose is to help the operating system identify when it's about to connect to a public Wi-Fi network that has a captive portal and display all the relevant information in a tab on your default browser.

What is a captive portal? A captive portal is a website that usually looks like a login page and appears when you try to connect to the Internet through Wi-Fi networks at hotels, shopping malls, coffee shops, or any other business with a public network. This captive portal basically intercepts all HTTP traffic until you identify yourself. The portal will also cause the session to expire after a certain period of time.
