Aethery

Aethery is a native Android client for the Aether networking core. It provides a clean, one-tap VPN interface with connection state, protocol selection, live logs, and foreground notification support.

Important: Aethery is a client UI around the Aether core – it is not a replacement or fork of Aether's networking engine. Aether handles route discovery, tunnel establishment, transport protocols, and encrypted traffic.

What Aethery does

- Native Android UI with one-tap connect - Android VpnService bridge for system-wide VPN - Quick Settings tile for connect/disconnect - Foreground notification with upload/download totals and disconnect action - Connection type picker: VPN (system-wide) or Proxy (local SOCKS5/HTTP CONNECT) - LAN sharing support - Automatic endpoint scanning with IP diagnostics and cached-gateway reconnect

Protocols

- MASQUE over HTTP/3 with HTTP/2 fallback (recommended default) - WireGuard for networks where reachable - WARP-on-WARP support via Aether core

Security & authentication

- Aether v1.8.0 Zero Trust enrolment via email OTP, service tokens, or Access JWT - Custom DNS and destination rules - Optional Zero Trust gateway filtering

Important notes

- Network filtering differs by provider and location. Connection status indicates tunnel readiness, not guaranteed reachability for every destination. - Regional restrictions may apply depending on your location.
