Description
YouTube Stable [Android TV] ARM7 YouTube (formerly YouTubeNext) is an advanced ad-free YouTube client for Android TVs and TV boxes. Key features: - **No ads** - **SponsorBlock** integration - **Adjustable playback speed** - **4K and higher**, **60 fps**, **HDR** - **Does not require Google services** - Active international community Functions Ad blocking - YouTube does not show banner ads, pre-roll ads, or mid-roll ad breaks. - It’s designed to run without advertising so YouTube cannot insert ads. - You cannot enable ads or whitelist channels. - Some creators include promotional segments inside the video; these can sometimes be skipped via SponsorBlock (see below). SponsorBlock - YouTube integrates with SponsorBlock. - From SponsorBlock: - **SponsorBlock** is a crowdsourced open-source browser extension with an open API for skipping sponsored segments in YouTube videos. [...] The extension automatically skips known sponsor segments using a privacy-preserving query system. It also supports skipping other categories like intros/outros, subscription reminders, and non-music parts of music videos. - You can choose which categories to skip in YouTube settings. - Unlike the browser extension, YouTube does not allow adding new segments (TV remotes are not suitable for such precise input). Casting - To cast video from a phone (or other device), you must link that device to the TV. - Unlike the official YouTube app, YouTube does not automatically appear when devices are on the same Wi‑Fi network. - How to connect a smartphone to the TV: - Open YouTube and go to **Settings**. - Select **Link devices** (the 2nd option). - On your phone open the YouTube app → **Settings** > **Watch on TV**. - Tap **Connect with TV code** and enter the code shown on the TV. Picture-in-Picture (PiP) - YouTube supports **Picture-in-Picture**. - Enable it in **Settings** > **General** > **Background playback** > **Picture-in-picture**. - Video will go into PiP when you press the Home button during playback, or when pressing Back if that behavior is enabled in **Settings** > **General** > **Background playback**. Playback speed - Adjust playback speed by tapping the **speed indicator** (gauge) in the top bar of the player. - The chosen speed is remembered across videos. - Some speeds may cause frame skipping — this is a known limitation. Voice search - Enabling global voice search requires installing an additional *bridge* app alongside YouTube. - The bridge intercepts system attempts to open the official YouTube app and opens YouTube instead. - You must remove the official YouTube app to use the bridge. The bridge app does not appear in the launcher and is used only for system voice search. - On some devices you must explicitly say “YouTube” in the voice query (e.g., “YouTube cute cats” rather than just “cute cats”). To enable voice search on Amazon Fire TV: - Remove the official YouTube app (no root required on Fire TV). On other Android TV devices (root required): - Obtain root on the device (follow a guide for your specific device). - Uninstall the official YouTube app using root (example command): - adb shell pm uninstall com.google.android.youtube.tv
