Nomi is a Material 3 expressive nutrition journal for Android. It lets you log food using natural language, voice, photo recognition, and barcode scanning.

🌍 Languages

Nomi is fully translated into ten languages. It follows your system language on first launch and falls back to English. You can switch anytime in Settings → Language.

English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Nederlands, Português, Shqip, Svenska, Türkçe

You can log food in any of these languages — the food name stays in its original language (e.g., "Rührei mit Speck" or "Pollo alla cacciatora") instead of being translated. Numbers, dates, and commas in amounts (like 1,5) are handled correctly for each language.

🔑 AI Setup

Recommended: Exa + Gemini — Exa retrieves web evidence and Gemini turns it into structured nutrition data. A Gemini Flash Lite model is the recommended cost-conscious choice.

1. Open Settings → AI providers 2. Select Exa + Gemini or another supported provider 3. Enter your own API keys 4. Tap Test connection before logging

Supported providers include Sonar, Exa + Gemini, Perplexity, OpenRouter, OpenAI, and compatible custom endpoints. Only the text or image needed for your action is sent to the provider.

API keys are stored locally on your device, excluded from backups, and never shared with this repository. Nomi cannot provide, recover, or pay for third-party API credentials.

🎨 Design

Nomi is built natively with Jetpack Compose and Material 3 Expressive, supporting light, dark, dynamic color, and pitch-black surfaces, with responsive layouts for phones and tablets.

🛡️ Privacy

- All nutrition history, meals, favorites, goals, and weight records stay on your device - API keys are encrypted with Android Keystore and excluded from exports and backups - Meal text or images are sent only when you perform an AI-powered action - The configured provider's privacy policy and pricing apply to those requests - Backups never contain API keys or diagnostic data
