🌐 WhiteDNS — Advanced DNS Tunneling Client for Android

WhiteDNS is an Android DNS tunneling client built around the MasterDNS ecosystem. It provides system-wide VPN and local proxy modes, resolver management, connection testing, traffic monitoring, and configurable routing through a modern Jetpack Compose interface.

WhiteDNS is a client application rather than a conventional VPN service. Connectivity depends on configured server profiles, resolver paths, supported tunneling engines, and network conditions.

🚀 DNS Tunneling Engines

WhiteDNS integrates two DNS tunneling clients:

• StormDNS • CottonDNS

The app manages their native runtimes and provides a unified interface for configuring connections, monitoring tunnel status, and handling runtime recovery.

🔗 VPN & Proxy Modes

WhiteDNS offers two primary routing modes:

• VPN Mode — uses Android VpnService and the bundled tun2proxy component to route device traffic through the DNS tunnel. • Proxy Mode — provides a local SOCKS5 proxy with an optional HTTP proxy bridge for compatible applications.

VPN routing also supports Split Tunnel controls, allowing users to select which applications use the tunnel.

🔎 Resolver Management & Scanning

Resolver selection is an important part of the WhiteDNS connection process. Users can manage resolver profiles, validate resolver entries, and scan resolver lists for usable paths.

The Resolver Scanner supports:

• Custom resolver files • Large resolver lists • Configurable scan workers • Pause and resume • Resolver statistics • Automatic result saving • Duplicate detection • Built-in resolver lists

⚡ Parallel Connection Testing

WhiteDNS includes a Parallel Test system for comparing multiple connection configurations before starting a VPN session.

Tests can evaluate:

• MTU • Latency • Connection speed • Resolver performance • Selected configuration

Successful results can be saved as advanced settings profiles for later use.

⚙️ Profiles & Configuration

The application organizes settings into server, resolver, and advanced configuration profiles.

Users can import and export supported configuration data, including stormdns:// links and TOML-based advanced settings. QR-based profile sharing is also supported.

📊 Connection Monitoring

WhiteDNS provides runtime information while a tunnel is active:

• Connection and resolver state • Tunnel verification • Upload and download traffic • Usage statistics • Runtime logs • Redacted diagnostics

The application verifies whether the tunnel is actually usable instead of relying only on Android's VPN connection state.

🎨 Modern Android Experience

WhiteDNS uses Jetpack Compose and Material 3. It supports light, dark, and system themes, along with an Android Quick Settings tile for convenient connection control.

Foreground-service notifications provide persistent controls for active VPN and proxy sessions.

🔐 Security & Transparency

WhiteDNS is source-available proprietary software, not an open-source project. Its source code is published for transparency and review, while redistribution, repackaging, modified builds, and reuse of project branding are restricted.

Security-related measures include disabled automatic backup for sensitive application data, blocked cleartext traffic by default, protected clipboard handling, and scoped file sharing for exported data.

📱 Compatibility

Official releases support multiple Android architectures, including ARM64, ARMv7, and x86 variants, with universal builds also available.
