About this app
Liseur is an open-source EPUB books reader for Android, and a client for calibre-web and Komga: a modern reader that is equally at home with the files on your phone and with your own book server.
👀 Reading * Paginated EPUB rendering through the Readium toolkit, full screen by default * Tap right to go forward, left to go back, the middle for the controls; volume keys work too * A whole page always fits the screen, with no stray scrolling to catch the last line * Four reading themes (Light, Sepia, Dark, Black), independent of the app's own theme * Four bundled open fonts or the publisher's own, plus size, line spacing, margins and brightness * Time left in the chapter, time left in the book, page or percentage, and a scrubber with chapter ticks
🪧 Marking up and looking up * Highlights in four colours, notes, and bookmarks with a corner ribbon * A notebook of everything you marked in a book, exportable as Markdown * Search the whole book, with snippets and jump-to highlighting * Definitions for any selected word, or a hand-off to an offline dictionary app. Online lookups are off until you turn them on, and you choose which Wiktionary edition or mirror answers them
📚 Your library * Index folders of EPUBs, covers and all * Books you are using sort to the front; finished ones get a tick * Pull to refresh picks up whatever changed behind the app's back
🌐 Your own server * calibre-web: one screen sets it up with URL, username and password, and Liseur works out the catalog, download rights and sync token * Komga: paste the server address and an API key * Your server's books merge into the same library with a cloud badge; tap one to download and open it * Reading positions sync both ways, through calibre-web's Kobo protocol or Komga's read-progress API * Remove the copy on the device, or delete the book from the server
🎉 Free software * No trackers, no analytics, no proprietary dependencies. The only network traffic is to the book server you configured and, if you switch online definitions on, to the dictionary site you chose.

What's new
- An empty library now offers three clear ways to add books, and server settings explain each supported server type. Highlighting keeps your entire selection, changing typography preserves your reading position, and wide tables fit on their own page.
- Reading ・Highlighting text with drag handles now keeps the full passage selected instead of reverting to a single word. ・Adjusting typography settings such as font size, margins, or line height no longer loses your reading position. (#64) ・Wide tables and multi-column charts are now constrained to fit on a single page rather than bleeding over the text on the next page. (#70) ・Dictionary lookups now support non-English Wiktionary editions, with an edition picker and connection testing added to settings. (#58) ・Redundant animations, list overscrolls, and image crossfades are disabled on e-ink displays to reduce screen repaints, alongside optional support for Onyx REGAL refresh modes. (#68)
- Library ・An empty library screen now displays distinct cards for importing a folder of books, adding an individual book, or connecting a book server. (#65)
- calibre-web ・Server settings now explain what calibre-web, Komga, and liseur-sync each offer, including direct links to their project sites.
- Fixes ・Screen controller settings are now hidden on devices that do not have a compatible hardware controller. (#69)
