DNS66 Reborn is an Android DNS blocker that stops ads, malware, and trackers at the system level—no root required. It's an independent fork of the original DNS66 project by Julian Andres Klode. This version is maintained and developed separately. 🔍 How It Works The app creates a local VPN service that intercepts all outgoing DNS requests from your device. Each request is checked against predefined host lists—if it matches a blocked domain, it's dropped or redirected. No traffic is routed to external servers: everything stays on-device for maximum privacy and speed. 🌐 Custom DNS Servers You can enable multiple DNS servers in the DNS tab. Unlike other blockers that use only one server at a time, DNS66 Reborn distributes requests across all active servers, offering several advantages: - ✅ Better speed – Requests are automatically distributed for optimal performance - ✅ Enhanced privacy – No single DNS provider sees all your traffic - ✅ Load balancing – Queries are spread across all enabled DNS servers - ✅ No single point of failure – If one server is slow or down, others keep working When enabled, the app uses your custom DNS servers as primary, with your network's default DNS as fallback. 📦 How to Use It 1. The app will start blocking ads and trackers across all your apps and games 🌐 Supported Languages - English - Russian ⚠️ Important note about browser compatibility DNS66 Reborn is not designed to block ads inside web browsers. This is not a limitation of the app, but a consequence of how modern browsers like Brave, Chrome, Firefox, Yandex and others work: - They load ad content from domains that DNS66 Reborn cannot intercept - They implement their own internal DNS that bypasses the system's network settings - They use encrypted DNS connections (DNS-over-HTTPS) that circumvent system‑level filtering 💡 How to block ads while browsing Try using: - Brave / Cromite / Yandex, which have built‑in ad blocking - Fennec with the uBlock Origin extension (free, open‑source, the best option) - Alternatively, try disabling asynchronous DNS in chrome://flags (experimental, not guaranteed to work) DNS66 Reborn is excellent at blocking ads and trackers in apps and games, but for web browsing you need dedicated tools. ℹ️ Note This project is still in development and may contain bugs. ⚖️ License This software is free and distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPLv3).
