Ungoogled Chromium microG

An Android build of ungoogled-chromium with microG support, so users can control what Google services see and touch on their device.

While the base is ungoogled-chromium, the necessary Google services have been selectively restored to make sync and microG work. For sync to function, microG GmsCore is required, or GMS services spoofed with ReVanced services.

Objectives

- Google Chromium, without dependency on Google web services. - Retains the default Chromium experience as closely as possible, serving as a drop-in replacement. - Adds tweaks for privacy, control, and transparency, almost all of which must be enabled manually.

- Contextual search - Home page, off by default - Location, falling back to the system provider - New Tab Page suggested sites - Offline indicator - Safe Browsing, compiled out along with its lookups - Terms-of-Service prompt and metrics opt-out - Unnecessary account permissions

- Flag to always send save-data in the header - Flag to clear browsing data on exit - Flag to disable WebRTC, enabled by default - Package renamed to org.ungoogled.chromium so it can be installed alongside Chrome

All Google Play and Google service related blobs are removed, including Firebase, GCM, GMS, and the bridge to Google Play.

- Account manager reads from app.revanced.android.gms instead of Play Services - Sign-in email fallbacks - Signature spoofing with microG tokens - Extension support and misc extension accessibility changes

- Home page and home button on by default - Additional search engines and keyword site search

Limitations

The privacy enhancements here are not designed for journalists, people in countries with limited freedoms, or those facing government-level adversaries. For those cases, use tools built specifically for the purpose, such as Tor Browser.

Extensions

The extension support version has been discontinued. The last version is 88.0.4324.182. It remains available for download, but no new version will be released. Work on re-supporting extensions is ongoing, since many Android browsers now carry extension support.
