DontKillMyApp is a benchmark tool to see how well your phone supports background processing. You can measure performance before configuring your phone, then follow the setup guides and benchmark again to see how much your phone has been slacking in the background.

You can share your report directly through the app with the maintainers of dontkillmyapp.com. They compile the data and use it to calculate the overall negative score for each device.

How does the benchmark work? (Technical!)

The app starts a foreground service with a wake lock and schedules a repetitive task on the main thread, a custom thread executor, and regular alarms (using AlarmManager.setExactAndAllowWhileIdle). It then calculates the ratio of executed vs. expected tasks. That's it!

This app is open source and maintained by volunteers who care about the Android ecosystem, feel the current pain points, and want to make it better.
