eBookSender

eBookSender — Android app for transferring books, documents, and manga to e-readers via FTP. It works over your local network, requires no cloud services or intermediate computer, can automatically organize directory structures on the device, and combines local files, OPDS catalogs, and manga downloads into a single send queue.

If your e-reader has an FTP server, simply install the APK, connect your phone and the device to the same Wi-Fi network (or turn on your phone's hotspot and connect the e-reader to it), then enter the FTP address in the app.

Transfer & Organization

- Supported formats: epub, fb2, mobi, azw3, txt, rtf, pdf, djvu, doc, docx, cbz, cbr. - Add files from within the app or via the Android "Share" system menu. - Single and batch sending with a queue, progress tracking, and background transfers via foreground service. - Customizable directory layout for books, documents, and manga. - Name templates with tokens: {title}, {author}, {tag}, {series}, {volume}, {year}, {language}, {index}, {publisher}, {ext}, {original}. - Transfers are atomic: files are first uploaded as temporary .uploading files, then renamed after successful delivery.

Metadata & File Preparation

- Extract title, author, series, year, language, publisher, and other available metadata from supported formats. - Cover previews in the send queue for EPUB, FB2, MOBI/AZW3, PDF, and manga archives. - Manual adjustment of category, series, and other data before sending. - Batch series editing for multiple manga chapters in the queue. - For CBZ, the app updates ComicInfo.xml and normalizes the archive structure before sending.

Device Interaction

- Connect via QR code or manual FTP address entry. - Automatic PocketBook detection using the explorer-3.db service database; other FTP servers are treated as generic devices. - Browse the connected device's directory, delete files and folders with confirmation. - Multi-select, drag selection, and auto-scroll in edit mode. - Optional VPN bypass for local FTP connections.

- Connect to online libraries via the OPDS protocol. - Search, browse catalogs, view covers, and download books to the queue. - Support for multiple OPDS sources and HTTP Basic Auth. - Secure storage of OPDS credentials via Android Keystore with AES/GCM. - Search for series and chapters in Com-X, download chapters as CBZ, favorites, subscriptions, and download history.

- Jetpack Compose and Material 3. - Light, dark, and system themes, with Dynamic Color on Android 12+. - Adaptive navigation for phones and tablets. - Russian and English out of the box. - Custom translations via JSON: grab the template or the English example, then place your completed .json file in eBookSender/locales/ on the device. - Haptic feedback with an option to disable it. - Update check on app launch and manual check from settings.
