What's new
- Rooted mode, for the first time There is now a rootful build alongside the usual one, for rooted devices with the Magisk module. It runs the same engine, but through the system audio path instead of screen capture, which means no MediaProjection notification and no capture restrictions to work around.
- Please treat it as untested. It is built, signed and uploaded, and the code paths are the same ones the rootless build uses, but nobody has yet run it on an actual rooted device. If you try it, reports are very welcome, and the rootless build is unaffected either way.
- Cards that fold away Every effect card now has a small chevron next to its switch. Tapping it hides that card's settings without turning the effect off.
- With a lot of effects switched on the page had become an absurdly long scroll, and the only way to shorten it was to turn things off, which rather defeated the point. Now you can leave everything running and collapse the ones you have finished tuning.
- They start expanded, so nothing moves until you decide it should.
- Vintage vinyl A whole new card, sitting under Vintage tape, giving you every noise a record makes as its own control instead of one vague "vinyl" knob:
- Surface noise and hiss, the quiet background bed Crackle, with a size control that takes it from fine dust all the way to a well loved pressing Pops and clicks, the louder isolated ones Frying sizzle and prickle, the sharper high textures Rumble, the turntable motor underneath everything Wear, for how tired the record is overall Follow, which ducks the noise under loud passages instead of leaving it sitting flatly on top Set to taste, from barely there to thoroughly battered.
- Balance Another new card: which ear the sound sits in.
- Balance shifts the sound left or right. It only ever turns the far side down, never boosts the near side, so it cannot push anything into clipping. Swap channels, for a cable or a recording that has them backwards. Mono blend, for collapsing a mix that feels uncomfortably wide. Everything is smoothed over about 25 ms, so dragging a slider mid song does not click.
- Pitch shifter Two new methods. Smooth is built in and keeps held notes from wobbling. Rubber Band is better still and is an optional ~730 KB download from the row at the bottom of the card, with a second variant that keeps voices sounding like themselves. Tap the same row again to remove it.
- If the download is missing or deleted, the card quietly falls back rather than going silent. Details and source are in the add-on release.
- Fixes Switching the pitch shifter to Smooth used to go silent for about twenty milliseconds. It now holds the dry signal and fades the effect in over it. A sample rate change left the pitch shifter describing the old rate, so frequencies landed slightly wrong until something else touched the card. Which file do I want? rootless is the normal one. No root needed. Pick this unless you know otherwise. rootful is the new rooted build, and is untested. Pick arm64-v8a unless your device is older or unusual. universal works everywhere and is simply bigger. Upgrading from 3.x installs straight over the top.
