Nightbell

Uptime monitoring that lives on your phone and actually wakes you up.

Point it at anything that answers over HTTP, at one element on a rendered web page, or at a GitHub repository, and it watches it, charts it, and gets loud when it breaks. No server, no account, no middleman. The phone in your pocket does the checking.

Urgent alerts arrive as a red card that behaves like an incoming call, with a looping alarm that keeps going until you acknowledge it, and it wakes the screen if the phone is locked.

- Status check — Hit a URL, assert on status code (exact, any 2xx, a range, or any response) - Request and response — Set method, headers, and body; assert on content (contains, equals, regex, JSON field) - Page element — Load the real page in an embedded WebView and watch DOM nodes picked by tapping - GitHub repository — Poll one repository and report changes: stars, issues, releases, pull requests, comments

Certificates

- Reads certificate expiry dates from every HTTPS handshake - Tracks expiry in days, not minutes - Supports pinned keys for private CAs, NAS, homelab, and Tor hidden services

Groups

- Group multiple monitors into one card - Shows "all operational" or "1 of 2 is down" - Worst member decides the group status

Alerts

- Full-screen urgent alert with looping alarm - Wakes the screen when the phone is locked - Three buttons: Ack (silence), Re-check (run check again), Mute (for one hour) - Customisable alert policy: sound, haptic pattern, escalation, quiet hours - Follows ringer switch by default (vibrate only in vibrate mode)

- Home-screen widget showing worst monitor first - Configurable columns (Auto, 1, 2, or 3) - Toggle individual header elements (brand, summary, cog)

Privacy and data

- No server, no account, no middleman - State stored locally as a JSON document in DataStore - Export and import settings - GitHub personal access token stored on device, never logged or shared
