AI summary

Root/ADB-aware package manager with a polished Material 3 interface. Manages apps, blocks components, scans trackers, and handles permissions at a deep system level. Requires root or Shizuku/Dhizuku for full functionality; the extensive permission list reflects its system-level scope. v0.6.12 fixes a ProGuard bug that caused keystore failures and repeated first-run behavior in release builds.

About this app

AppManagerNG is a continuation of the App Manager project — a full-featured, root/ADB-aware package manager for Android — with a focus on user experience, polish, and approachability without sacrificing any of the depth that makes the original a power user staple.

Think of it as AppManager with a friendlier front door: the same engine, the same root/ADB capabilities, the same component blocking and tracker scanning — but layered behind a Material 3 interface that doesn't punish casual users for opening it.

What's new

v0.6.12Aug 9, 2026

v0.6.12 — the universal root cause. Release builds could not load the app's BKS keystore at all: AppManagerNG replaces Android's built-in BouncyCastle provider with the bundled one, JCA resolves provider implementations reflectively by class name, and the ProGuard/R8 config had no BouncyCastle keeps — so every minified build shipped without the keystore SPI classes and KeyStore.getInstance("BKS") failed with "BKS not found" on every device, every launch. That made the app treat every start as a first run and mint a fresh recovery password each time. Keep rules added; verified end-to-end on API 36 and API 37 emulators (generate → acknowledge → relaunch proceeds silently with the stored password). Debug builds never showed the bug because they are not minified.
