About this app

Liseur is an open-source EPUB books reader for Android, and a client for calibre-web and Komga: a modern reader that is equally at home with the files on your phone and with your own book server.

👀 Reading * Paginated EPUB rendering through the Readium toolkit, full screen by default * Tap right to go forward, left to go back, the middle for the controls; volume keys work too * A whole page always fits the screen, with no stray scrolling to catch the last line * Four reading themes (Light, Sepia, Dark, Black), independent of the app's own theme * Four bundled open fonts or the publisher's own, plus size, line spacing, margins and brightness * Time left in the chapter, time left in the book, page or percentage, and a scrubber with chapter ticks

🪧 Marking up and looking up * Highlights in four colours, notes, and bookmarks with a corner ribbon * A notebook of everything you marked in a book, exportable as Markdown * Search the whole book, with snippets and jump-to highlighting * Definitions for any selected word, or a hand-off to an offline dictionary app. Online lookups are off until you turn them on, and you choose which Wiktionary edition or mirror answers them

📚 Your library * Index folders of EPUBs, covers and all * Books you are using sort to the front; finished ones get a tick * Pull to refresh picks up whatever changed behind the app's back

🌐 Your own server * calibre-web: one screen sets it up with URL, username and password, and Liseur works out the catalog, download rights and sync token * Komga: paste the server address and an API key * Your server's books merge into the same library with a cloud badge; tap one to download and open it * Reading positions sync both ways, through calibre-web's Kobo protocol or Komga's read-progress API * Remove the copy on the device, or delete the book from the server

🎉 Free software * No trackers, no analytics, no proprietary dependencies. The only network traffic is to the book server you configured and, if you switch online definitions on, to the dictionary site you chose.

What's new

v0.8.0Aug 18, 2026
  • liseur-sync is now a full catalog server for browsing, downloading, deleting, and syncing books with personal series management. This release also introduces endpaper completion screens with reading stats, continuous scroll reading mode, expanded reading appearance settings, and screen timeout controls.
  • ●Reading ・Added an endpaper screen displayed upon reaching the end of a book, showing reading time, book details, and options to return to the library or immediately download and open the next volume in a series. ・Added a continuous scroll reading mode with seamless chapter transitions, volume key scrolling, and an app-wide default or per-book setting. ・Added settings to keep the screen awake while reading, available globally and per book. ・Added a dedicated reading appearance settings screen to customize themes, fonts, and layout outside active books, including an option to automatically follow the app theme. ・Improved vertical text reading so continuous scrolling and volume key page turns follow the text's vertical axis and keep screen cutouts clear.
  • ●Library ・Upgraded liseur-sync to a full catalog server alongside calibre-web and Komga, allowing you to browse libraries, download books, delete books remotely, and sync reading progress. ・Added an option to group series volumes into stacked piles on the library shelf. ・Replaced the series dialog with a full picker sheet featuring search, cover previews, letter jumping, and series suggestions based on reading history. ・Added personal series management for liseur-sync, including the ability to rename series shelves directly from the series screen and file hand-crafted series assignments.
  • ●Fixes ・Fixed fractional series volume numbers displaying long decimal expansions. ・Fixed next-in-series suggestions stepping over gaps in series numbering instead of offering missing unread volumes first. ・Fixed search accent normalization disagreeing with series shelf matching. ・Fixed the series picker carrying over a book's old volume number when assigning it to a new series.
  • ●Under the hood ・Added an About screen with app version details, literary quotes, and a sponsor link. ・Added automatic recovery for liseur-sync when a work is deleted server-side. ・Offline series edits now wait locally and sync safely without overwriting newer remote changes.
