About this app

ARMSX2 is a free and open-source PlayStation 2 emulator for ARM devices, based on PCSX2, PCSX2_ARM64 for our OG versions that used x86 translation, and our own arm64jit with the new ARMSX2 refresh versions.

Its goal is to bring modern PS2 emulation to ARM platforms while staying aligned with upstream PCSX2 improvements. ARMSX2 now supports native ARM64 JIT/recompiler work alongside legacy x86-to-ARM64 translation paths, meaning it is no longer solely dependent on x86 translation. Development is ongoing, and the project continues to move toward deeper native ARM64 support as more of the emulator core is modernized.

ARMSX2 allows you to play PS2 games on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows devices, with a focus on ARM-based mobile and desktop hardware.

What's new

v1.0-overlay-3Jun 28, 2026
  • Added support for custom game covers, set your own artwork for any game. Long-press a game ---> Info Section (Last tab in settings) ---> Set Custom Cover, or drop images into the covers/custom folder named after the game. Make sure to remove the previous custom cover first before changing it to another.
  • Added a new hotkey for Fast Forward (Toggle) for controllers, press once to lock fast-forward on, press again to turn it off, an alternative to having to hold the button through long JRPG grinds. The original Fast Forward (Hold) hotkey is also still an option.
  • Per-game Renderer settings no longer bleed through to other games. Your choices made in global settings will carry over automatically.
  • Added SPU2 SIMD audio (experimental) setting in the Audio section of settings, an optional NEON fast path for sound processing that can free up CPU on lower-end devices. Off by default; toggle it under Audio settings. Credit to @Phantomnameless for bringing the feature up to me.
  • Redesigned the library toolbar: the top-right buttons are now clean icons with labels underneath (Scan, BIOS, Memory Cards, Cover Art, plus a ⋮ More menu for the rest), replacing the cramped text buttons.
  • For Memory Cards, the manager now clearly shows which card is loaded in each slot (highlight + a check mark).
  • Cleaner pause menu: the exit (x) button is now red, and the green play button no longer shows while you're already in-game. Long-press a game in the game library and press the play button there, an alternative to launching games from the cover (touch only).
