About this app
ARMSX2 is a free and open-source PlayStation 2 emulator for ARM devices, based on PCSX2, PCSX2_ARM64 for our OG versions that used x86 translation, and our own arm64jit with the new ARMSX2 refresh versions.
Its goal is to bring modern PS2 emulation to ARM platforms while staying aligned with upstream PCSX2 improvements. ARMSX2 now supports native ARM64 JIT/recompiler work alongside legacy x86-to-ARM64 translation paths, meaning it is no longer solely dependent on x86 translation. Development is ongoing, and the project continues to move toward deeper native ARM64 support as more of the emulator core is modernized.
ARMSX2 allows you to play PS2 games on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows devices, with a focus on ARM-based mobile and desktop hardware.
What's new
- For per-game touch layouts you can now set a virtual controller layout per game instead of one global layout. Profiles are saved to an inputprofiles folder in your app folder.
- Rumble now works on connected Bluetooth and USB controllers, (please let me know if this issue is still persisting for you).
- Added button in the game library info button menu to either copy the ARMSX2 app data folder location, or use a downloaded file manager to access it directly.
- Long-press a game in the library and scroll to the last section "Info" to see its Title, Serial, CRC, Region, compatibility and path. Tap any field to copy it.
- Renamed Max FPS Cap to Frame Rate Control.
- DDS texture packs no longer crash (such as Resident Evil 4).
- No more "freezing" after the menu: the game would stayed paused after closing the menu in some cases (for example after saving a controller layout), and you had to re-open the menu and hit Resume. The game now resumes whenever you leave the menu.
- Global vs per-game settings no longer bleed into each other, switching the Global/Game scope and saving could write to the wrong one. Each tier is kept separate now.
- Gamepad face buttons work immediately at game load, no more pressing X/Triangle a few times to "wake up" the controller.
- Audio no longer goes silent when toggling heavy game fixes, sound keeps playing through the change.
- Fixed storage selection during initial setup. Choosing Internal or SD Card now works and gives clear feedback, picking SD Card on a device with no memory card tells you instead of silently doing nothing. Changing the storage location after setup now prompts a restart so it actually takes effect.
