Vyxel Apps

• Two shells over one engine.
• The old Classic UI is gone — not restyled, deleted and rebuilt. Beside the Material 3 Expressive shell there is now a new Classic one, over the same catalogue, the same installer and the same library. Add Google Play as a real source, a newspaper skin called Atelier, sixteen languages, and a long list of fixes to things that were quietly wrong.
• ●Classic, rebuilt AppScreens, HomeScreen, AppComponents, CompareScreen, ModulesScreenClassic and UiStyle are deleted. In their place is a shell written from scratch — home, search, browse, detail, updates, library, sources and settings, each its own screen rather than a branch inside a shared one.
• ・A front page, not a list. A masthead, a live counter of what's indexed and how many sources answered, a hero carousel, curated category chips, and browse-by-source tiles that name two of the source's own apps instead of showing eight identical logos. ・Browse by source, per source, with Featured / Trending / Recently updated tabs that actually mean three different things. A catalogue carrying stars but no dates (Play), dates but no stars (F-Droid), or neither (WinGet, Patched) used to give the same order to all three — each source now brings the signal it really has. ・Library (Saved + Installed), Updates with a full multi-source scan, and a Random door that pulls one app from any source. ・One detail page for both shells. There is exactly one implementation of the app page — release history, ABI-aware APK picker, README screenshots, long description — and both shells draw it. ・The curated home queries survived. They were tuned against live results rather than guessed; the per-topic star floors are what separate a category that returns apps from one that returns awesome-lists.
• ●Atelier — a newspaper, not a colour scheme
• A premium skin that is a complete visual identity rather than a palette swap: blackletter nameplate, serif body, rules and a dateline, a standfirst headline, square-cut cards, a page-number-style count. It prints in two editions — paper and night — and browse-by-source under it is set as a stacked column of full-width entries, the way a newspaper sets its departments.
• Alongside it: Cyberpunk, Neon Punk and Liquid Glass (light and dark), each with its own ground, silhouette and type.
• ●Google Play, as a real source
• Reached through Aurora OSS's client. Play can be searched without an account; installing needs one, and there's a Play account screen for signing in or connecting a dispenser. Play carries everything the open-source sources can't.
• ●Patched apps
• A curated slice of the Patched App's catalogue. Builds that exist to unlock paid tiers or defeat licence checks in commercial apps are deliberately excluded — what's listed is the ad-removal and feature-restoration set, and every entry resolves to a named asset in a real upstream release rather than "whatever APK that release happens to hold".
• ●Sixteen languages
• English plus fifteen translations — Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Dutch, Turkish, Polish and Swedish — both shells, every screen, not just the menu labels.
• ●Everywhere else ・One shell switch. Settings opens with an Expressive | Classic toggle, the half you're in filled. ・Root modules — Magisk, Zygisk, LSPosed, KernelSU — browsable, searchable and installable, with their own install sheet. ・Shizuku and root installs, silent where the device allows them. ・Material You, a live accent wheel, saturated containers and AMOLED black — the last applying on top of any dark look rather than being a theme of its own. ・Pull to refresh in both shells, a detail-page open/close animation, swipe-left to close the drawer. ・A GitHub quota meter reading GitHub's own rate-limit headers, with search and core metered separately — they're different budgets with different windows.
• ●Fixed ・An update could install a different app. A mirror filing a beta build under the stable package id was offered as an update — so taking it replaced stable Chrome with Chrome Beta. A candidate build now has to match the installed app's release channel. ・Updates for apps you'd uninstalled stayed in the list, offering a build for something no longer on the device. ・A GitHub token entered in one shell now authenticates both. The shells store settings separately and each wired its own token into its own HTTP client — so a token saved in Expressive left Classic's requests anonymous, and the quota meter (which reads those very responses) kept reporting the anonymous ceiling of 10 searches a minute right next to a "Saved" button. ・Crash on launch. Firebase Analytics binds to Play services from a content provider before any app code runs; where Play services couldn't resolve the package for the calling uid it threw inside its own handler, where nothing in the app could catch it. Collection no longer starts itself. (Thanks to whoever sent the log.) ・Search is faster. Per-source ceiling 12s → 5s, a source that just overran gets a short budget on the next query only, and recent answers are held in memory — so re-running a query, or typing forward from one, fills the list on the first frame. ・"No APK" on the home screen for GitHub apps that had one — the same app searched from the search screen resolved its release fine. ・Text clipped by its own rounded corner. Row labels in Settings lost the left edge of their first letter to the corner radius of the ripple they sat inside. ・App card meta rows split in half. A two-word source name ("Play Store", "Root Modules") wrapped inside its own badge on a narrow card, so the label read as sitting half at the top of the row and half at the bottom. ・Colour controls a skin had already decided sat there inert under a line of text admitting they did nothing. Under Cyberpunk, Neon Punk, Liquid Glass or Atelier they're simply not shown. ・Favourites were unreachable in Classic — a list you curate in one shell was invisible in the other. ・The profile page is gone. It opened a cover photo, an avatar and a name field, with your saved apps two-thirds of the way down it. What the route was for was the saved apps — so that's what it opens. ・Liquid Glass settings fold away instead of putting seven sliders and a file picker between the theme picker and everything below it. ・The Atelier nameplate reads Vyxel, in its blackletter face. No Play Store apps in the hero carousel, and the carousel is back to full length.
