Description
Session is a new kind of private messenger, built on a unique network of user servers scattered around the world. With no central servers, Session cannot leak or sell your data. And thanks to Session's private routing protocols, your messages are completely anonymous. No one will ever know who you're talking to, what you're saying, or even your IP address. Completely anonymous account creation: No phone number or email address is required to create a Session ID. ♧ Decentralized server network ♧ No data leaks, no centralized points of failure. No metadata logging: Session does not store, track or log your message metadata. IP protection: The IP addresses of devices are never revealed to the interlocutor, nor to the servers where your data is stored. Closed groups: Private group chats with end-to-end encryption for up to 10 people. ● _ ● Secure Attachments ○ _ ○ Share voice snippets, photos, and files with secure encryption and Session privacy protection. Free and open source: Don't take our word for it - check the Session code yourself. Session is free as free speech, free as free beer, free from ads and trackers. Session is created and supported by the Loki Foundation, Australia's first non-profit privacy technology organization. Get your online privacy back today - download Session is free in free speech, free beer, and ad-free and tracker-free. Session is created and supported by the Loki Foundation, Australia's first nonprofit organization specializing in privacy technology. Session is the next generation of private messengers, built on a unique network of user-managed servers spread around the world. Without central servers, Session cannot leak or sell your data And thanks to Session's closed protocols, your messages are completely anonymous. No one ever knows who you're talking to, what you're saying, or even your IP address. Summary Session integrates directly with Oxen Service Nodes, which are a set of distributed, decentralized and Sybil-resistant nodes. The service nodes act as servers that store messages offline, as well as a set of nodes that allow onion routing that hides users' IP addresses. To get a full understanding of how Session works, read the Session Whitepaper article. Want to contribute? Found a bug or want to contribute? Translations Want to help us translate Session into your language? You can do it at https://crowdin.com/project/session-android! Check signatures Step 1: wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/oxen-io/oxen-core/master/utils/gpg_keys/KeeJef.asc gpg --import KeeJef.asc Step 2: Get the signed hash for this release. SESSION_VERSION must be updated for the version you want to verify. export SESSION_VERSION=1.10.4 wget https://github.com/oxen-io/session-android/releases/download/$SESSION_VERSION/signatures.asc Step 3: Verify hash signatures for files. gpg --verify signatures.asc 2>&1 |grep "Good signature from" The command above should output "Good signature from "Kee Jefferys...". If so, the hashes are valid, but we still need to make sure that the signed hashes match the downloaded files. Step 4: Make sure that the two commands below return the same hash. If so, the files are valid. sha256sum session-$SESSION_VERSION-universal.apk grep universal.apk signatures.asc ♤ License ♤ Copyright 2011 Whisper Systems Copyright 2013-2017 Open Whisper Systems Copyright 2019-2021 The Oxen Project License under GPLv3: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.html □ FEATURES ■ • Creating a completely anonymous account: no phone number or email address is required to create a session ID. • Decentralized server network: no data leaks, no central point of failure • No metadata logging: session does not store, track, or log your message metadata • IP protection: the IP addresses of your device will never be exposed to the person you are talking to or the servers storing your data • Closed groups: private, end-to-end encrypted group chats for up to 10 people • Secure attachments: share voice snippets, photos and files with secure encryption and privacy protection • Multi-device synchronization: one session ID for phone and computer • Free and open source: don't take our word for it - check the session code ▪︎ Warning for the paranoid! ▪︎ Not looking at all this next information and promises about encryption / privacy / confidentiality / freedom, it all comes to an end, even despite the open source code. After all, first of the project, the community found the tracker "Google Analytic", yes-yes, you got it right, it's analytics from google in a "private messenger! Later it was covered with another, more clumsy and purposeful file, which is impossible to distribute in any way. I would like to remind you that all traffic is based and sent through Lokinet, which is a more derivative/optimal solution, if it is not convenient to go to sites with .onion domain through regular tor. So, it turns out that all traffic goes through tor anyway? This means that there is no anonymity of the traffic. It is actively monitored! The encryption here is based on signal, which has plenty of sub-codes with privacy / anonymity and does not encrypt messages in any way! ¤ Changes ¤ • Fix cached recipient values in async and other Recipient builder functions by @hjubb in #860 Anti-Features: NonFreeComp (the application includes non-free components): ⇒ The app contains libraries of Google Mobile Services and Firebase. NonFreeNet (this application promotes/depends a non-Free network service): ⇒ The app connects to Google servers (Firebase/cloud messaging).
